LHS™ Linear Heat Sensor Cable
Rugged, Flexible Heat Detection for Challenging Environments
LHS™ Linear Heat Sensors are a flexible, durable, fixed-temperature heat detection solution designed to provide continuous fire detection along its entire length.
Unlike traditional spot-type detectors, LHS™ detects heat anywhere along the cable, delivering consistent protection in environments where smoke or point-type heat detectors may be impractical or unreliable.
Engineered for commercial and industrial applications, LHS™ offers a cost-effective and adaptable detection method for difficult, dirty, high-temperature, or physically constrained environments.
Why Choose LHS™ Linear Heat Detection?
Your Environment Is Not Suited for Spot Detection
Environmental conditions can limit the effectiveness of traditional spot-type smoke, flame, or heat detectors.
LHS™ is ideal for applications where ambient conditions or physical constraints prohibit conventional detection methods.
- Too Dirty – Coal conveyors, manufacturing processes, barns, and similar environments may cause spot detectors to clog, leading to false alarms or impaired detection
- Too Hot or Too Cold – Traditional spot detectors are typically designed for ambient temperatures between 32°F and 120°F. Applications such as aircraft hangars and freezer warehouses often exceed this range. LHS™ is designed with extreme temperature ranges in mind
- Physical Limitations – Floating roof oil tanks, machinery, cable trays, and confined spaces may prevent the effective use of spot detectors. LHS™ cable can be wrapped, routed, or configured to match complex physical layouts.

Key Advantages
- Continuous Detection Along Entire Length
Provides consistent protection regardless of cable length or configuration - Flexible Installation Options
Can be wrapped around equipment, routed along ceilings, installed in cable trays, or deployed across wide spaces - Cost-Effective Solution
Reduces the need for multiple explosion-proof spot detectors and associated conduit and wiring in certain hazardous environments.
- Direct Panel Integration
Can be connected directly into a fire panel initiating circuit, eliminating the need for additional equipment. - Compatible with All Fire Control Panels
As a contact shorting device, LHS™ is compatible with fire control panels
Applications
LHS™ Linear Heat Sensing Cable is commonly used to protect:
- Aircraft hangars
- Belt conveyors
- Cable trays
- Classified hazardous areas
- Floating roof tanks
- Freezer warehouses
- High-bay warehouses
- Tunnels
- Open-area protection applications
Linear Heat Detection is particularly effective for long, linear hazards such as tunnels and cable runs where spot detection may leave gaps in coverage.

How LHS™ Works
LHS™ is a fixed-temperature, contact shorting detection cable. When a fire raises the temperature to the rated activation point at any location along the cable, the conductors short together, signaling an alarm condition to the connected fire control panel.
Because detection occurs along the entire cable length, protection remains consistent across extended or complex layouts.
System Architecture
System Configuration
LHS™ Cable is available in a variety of:
- Cable jackets
- Operating temperature ratings
This allows system designers to select the appropriate cable type based on environmental conditions and hazard characteristics.
When installed with intrinsic safety barriers, LHS™ can be deployed in classified hazardous areas to provide comprehensive coverage while reducing installation complexity.
