Intelligent, Addressable Devices for ARIES® Control Platforms
SmartOne® is KiddeFenwal’s intelligent, addressable device family and communication protocol used with ARIES®-SLX and ARIES®-MLX control units.
Operating on the Signaling Line Circuit (SLC), SmartOne® devices provide continuous communication with the control panel, allowing individual detectors and modules to report alarm, trouble, and supervisory conditions with precise device-level identification.
By combining intelligent detection with addressable architecture, SmartOne® enhances system visibility, simplifies troubleshooting, and supports scalable fire protection system design across commercial, industrial, and special hazard environments.
What Is SmartOne®?
SmartOne® refers to both:
- The communication protocol used between devices and the control unit
- The family of intelligent detectors and modules operating on that protocol
Unlike conventional zone-based systems, SmartOne® devices are individually addressable. This means the control unit can identify exactly which device has initiated an alarm or reported a status change — reducing response time and simplifying system diagnostics.
When integrated with ARIES® control platforms, SmartOne® devices form a coordinated detection and release architecture designed for engineered fire protection applications.
Intelligent Detectors
SmartOne® Intelligent Detectors provide precise, device-level fire detection using advanced sensing technology. Each detector communicates continuously with the control unit to provide real-time status reporting and accurate alarm identification. These detectors are designed for integration into engineered systems where reliable performance and system clarity are critical.
SmartOne® Intelligent Smoke Detector
Provides early detection of visible products of combustion using advanced photoelectric sensing technology.
Individually addressable and continuously monitored, the SmartOne® Intelligent Smoke Detector delivers early warning capability while enabling precise device identification through the ARIES® control platform.
Best suited for: data centers, control rooms, telecommunications facilities, commercial spaces, and other mission-critical environments.
SmartOne® Intelligent Heat Detector
Monitors temperature conditions and responds to abnormal heat rise and/or fixed temperature thresholds (model dependent).
Ideal for environments where smoke detection may be impractical due to dust, steam, or airborne contaminants, the SmartOne® Intelligent Heat Detector provides reliable, addressable heat-based fire detection within the SmartOne® architecture.
Best suited for: mechanical rooms, industrial areas, equipment spaces, and high-contaminant environments.
Intelligent Modules
SmartOne® Addressable Modules expand system capability by monitoring external devices, controlling outputs, and supporting releasing applications within the addressable system architecture. Each module communicates directly with the control unit via the SLC, providing clear status reporting and enabling coordinated system response.
SmartOne® Addressable Input Module (AI)
Monitors normally open or normally closed contact devices and transmits status changes to the control unit.
Enables integration of external initiating devices into the SmartOne® addressable system.
SmartOne® Addressable Relay Module
Provides a programmable relay output for activating external equipment or interfacing with auxiliary systems.
Supports controlled response actions within engineered fire protection systems.
SmartOne® Addressable Signal Module (ASM)
Designed to interface with notification or auxiliary signaling devices within the SmartOne® addressable architecture.
Supports coordinated system annunciation and response functions.
SmartOne® Remote Release Module (RRM)
Supports releasing system applications by providing addressable control of releasing circuits within engineered suppression systems.
