Monitoring System is a modular sensor platform designed to detect potential failure conditions in mission-critical environments before a fire event occurs.

Developed to support applications such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), switchgear rooms, and data infrastructure environments, REL-iON™ provides multi-point monitoring for early-stage risk identification—helping mitigate conditions that may lead to thermal runaway events.

A Multi-Stage Risk Mitigation Approach

REL-iON™ supports a layered approach to hazard mitigation:

STAGE 1 – Prevention
Continuous monitoring of environmental and operational factors including:

  • Water leaks
  • Airflow
  • Vibration
  • Corrosion
  • Solid contaminants

STAGE 2 – Detection
Prior to a full thermal runaway event, lithium-ion batteries may vent gases due to internal pressure buildup. REL-iON™ supports detection of:

  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
  • Hydrogen (H₂)

Hydrogen detection is especially critical in liquid-cooled battery environments, where gas release may precede visible failure.

REL-iON™ products are intended as early warning sensors for information and maintenance purposes. They are listed to codes and standards other than UL 268 and UL 521 fire detection standards.
