Applications For Commercial Kitchens
How the WHDR™ Kitchen Fire Suppression System Works

How the WHDR™ Kitchen Fire Suppression System Works

Fire is detected by mechanical links, thermo-bulb detectors, or electric DETECT-A-FIRE® (DAF) heat detectors. The system may also be manually activated via a remote pull station.

The XV™ Control System simultaneously actuates the pressurized agent storage containers, shuts down fuel and electrical power sources, and activates the building fire alarm.

The APC wet chemical agent is discharged through a fixed piping network and strategically positioned nozzles.

The agent suppresses flames and creates a foam blanket over grease surfaces, preventing reflash until the hazard cools.

System Architecture

System Components

  • XV™ Control System
  • WHDR™ Agent Storage Cylinder & Valve Assemblies
  • APC Wet Chemical Agent (potassium salt solution)
  • Thermo-Bulb, Fusible Link, or DETECT-A-FIRE® detectors
  • Manual Remote Release
  • Automatic Gas Shut-Off Valve
  • Customized Discharge Nozzles
  • Fixed Pipe Distribution Network

The APC wet chemical agent works through saponification, forming a synthetic cellular mass over hot grease surfaces to smother the fire and prevent re-ignition.
