WHDR™ Kitchen Fire Suppression System – Marine

Wet Chemical Fire Protection for Marine Galley Applications

The WHDR™ Kitchen Fire Suppression System – Marine is a pre-engineered wet chemical suppression system designed specifically to protect cooking equipment and associated ventilation systems in shipboard galley environments.

Marine galleys present unique fire risks due to confined spaces, vessel motion, continuous operation, and the presence of hot oils and grease. The WHDR™ Kitchen Fire Suppression  system – Marine provides automatic, 24-hour protection for galley appliances, exhaust hoods, plenums, and ductwork, helping safeguard crew, passengers, and vessel operations.

Designed for the demanding conditions of shipboard environments, the system delivers fast flame knockdown, reflash prevention, and dependable performance while meeting applicable marine standards and approvals.

How the WHDR™ Kitchen Fire suppression system - Marine Works

How the WHDR™ Kitchen Fire suppression system – Marine Works

Fire is detected through fusible links, thermo-bulb detectors, or electric heat detection devices installed within the galley hood and duct system.

Upon detection or manual activation, the control mechanism actuates the pressurized wet chemical agent cylinder.

The wet chemical agent is discharged through a fixed piping network and marine-rated nozzles positioned to protect cooking surfaces and ventilation components.

The agent suppresses flames and forms a foam blanket over grease surfaces to prevent reflash while the hazard cools.

Engineered for Vessel Protection

Kidde Fire Systems, a KiddeFenwal brand, has been protecting ships at sea for more than a century, developing fire suppression solutions for naval and commercial vessels worldwide.

The WHDR™ Kitchen Fire Suppression – Marine reflects that legacy, providing dependable, fast-acting fire suppression for galley hazards while helping maintain operational continuity onboard.
